Are You Making These Same Wedding Vow Mistakes?

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

If you’re one of the millions of couples who have decided to write your own wedding vows, congratulations! You’ve chosen one of the best ways to truly personalize your special day. But there’s a catch. Chances are you’re not a professional writer, nor do you have access to one to help you come up with wedding vows that don’t sound like you wrote them on the back of a cocktail napkin.

When you come right down to it, most people DO have what it takes to write their own wedding vows. But it can help to know about some of the most common mistakes – or “Big Boo-Boos” – most couples make along the way. Avoid these and you’re well on your way to a perfect set of vows your new spouse will love.

Big Wedding Vow Boo-Boo #1: Clichés

After you’ve come up with something you think is perfect, the first thing to do is to go back and check for is clichéd phrasing. Clichés are trite terms that have been used so many times that they have become hackneyed. In fact, the word itself originally referred to clay printing plates used to make books over and over again. You can recognize clichés in your vows, as well as lifted phrases (lines taken from another source like a book, song, poem, etc.), by going over each of your lines individually. Terms which have been done to death will be as easy to spot as phrases like these:

* Dumb as a doorknob
* No pain, no gain
* Out of the frying pan and into the fire
* Push the envelope
* Think outside the box

Ugh! When you run into clichés like these in your vows, by all means replace them with something original. For instance, you could say: “Foolish as a cricket on the banks of a frog pond” (instead of “dumb as a doorknob”), or “Stand beside you in your cause” (instead of “go to the mat for you”). Those aren’t necessarily Shakespeare, but they’re certainly better than before.

Big Wedding Vow Boo-Boo #2: Overuse of Metaphors

The other sure way to get rid of stilted poetry in your vows and end up with a voice that reflects YOUR thoughts is to take out all metaphors and replace them with imagery. Poetry – which is really what wedding vows are — is a visual medium. The only difference between a great poem and a great painting is that you are using words, rather than brush strokes, to create a beautiful image.

Metaphors are a type of phrase where one object becomes another, or “metamorphoses” into it. These are considered weak images because they tend to be intellectual instead of visual. So, don’t say that your beloved “is your life.” There’s no picture associated with that. Instead, find a picture that evokes the feelings you have. Whatever images you use, try to make them as vivid as you can. Mental images are what people are going to remember from your vows – probably even more than the specific words you choose.

Grooming for the Groom

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

The big day is not all about the bride; the groom is also in the limelight and would like to look his best too. With the increase of men’s beauty products like Clarins, Lancme, Nivea, Decleor, suggesting that men are paying more attention to their image then ever before. So the following are tips for keeping your husband to be in tiptop condition for those wedding photos.

Skincare

Men have been experimenting with our exfolients and moisturizer for as long as we can remember, this is better than using nothing at all but men need men-specific products for their skin. Their skin is a lot drier and oilier due to higher sebum levels and high moisture evaporation rates. Men’s skin is also thicker than women’s, has a more acidic ph, and has more defined eye contours not to mention fragile due to shaving. In other words our skincare products just wont do the job.

The first step is to use an oil for shaving Decleors Aromessence Homme and L’Occitane Cade Travel Shaving Oil are two good examples. Applied to the skin before shaving will lubricate and soften the hair making for a more comfortable and closer shave, applying a few drops afterwards to sooth and calm the skin preventing in growing hairs.

Use an exfoliater once or twice a week to further prevent in growing hairs and brighten the complexion. Nivea makes a deep cleansing facial scrub for men that is quite effective; there are plenty of brands to choose from for both oily and sensitive skin. This is always to be followed by a moisturizer or the skin will quickly dry out. Find out what skin type he is (dry, oily, sensitive) and buy the appropriate moisturizer. Another good tip is to get “girlie free” body creams like E45 or Lubriderm for dry skin areas or all over the body, if it isn’t scented he will be more inclined to use it.

Treatments

A good idea is to go for a facial a few months before the wedding to pamper your skin. A facial will make a huge difference to your skin leaving the face thoroughly cleansed and fresh. If you can’t convince him to do this maybe a half hour facial will be more appealing letting the beautician know he’s a bit nervous before hand so she can put him at ease.

The Decleor Aromaplasty Facial is a great treat for the bride or groom, it starts with ten-minute diagnostic back massage, then the facial nourishes and revitalizes the skin aiding in the absorption of moisture and nutrients. There are also deep cleansing treatments for the body, if the groom has an acne prone area maybe the back or chest; this treatment can be a good idea. If the groom does not want to go to a Spa or Beautician by himself why not go together you could even make a romantic weekend out of it by staying overnight.

Hair

It is not a good idea to go for a drastic change in the months leading up to the wedding. However it is a good idea to get the hair cut one or two weeks before the wedding letting the hair settle and avoiding a too tight cut. If he is brave enough to try a back or chest wax preparing for the honeymoon this is the best time to try as a wax will last up to ten weeks. Waxing should always be done at the salon preventing any horror stories.

Hands and feet

Hand care just does not sound very masculine or appealing to men, so it’s likely that his hands are not in the best shape possible to say the least. Given that his hands will be on display during the wedding it is a good idea for him to start a daily hand care ritual to keep his skin and nails in top condition for showing off the wedding band. Using a rich moisture hand lotion every day and NOT chewing his nails is a start, a really good idea is for him to get a manicure but if he protests maybe you could take out your nail file and give him a helping hand.

I an assuming that that yours and not his feet will be on display but this does not mean foot care for him is out the window. His concerns might differ from yours slightly, with more emphasis on odour prevention.

Scrubbing feet daily with some tea tree oil or mint foot scrub and drying them completely should help. Also inserting odor control insoles into his shoes to absorb wetness and odor can also be beneficial. Some good products to keep in mind are California North Barbay coast hand and foot scrub and the Scholl range of products are still going strong.

Fitness

There is no better time to join the gym than when you book your big day, it will provide all the motivation you need, going to the gym three times a week and eating a healthy balanced diet should tone your body and keep the weight off. Why don’t both of you join together you can motivate each other to get off the couch and spend some quality time together. If the gym is not your scene then some daily brisk walking is good to clear the head and keep in shape. Do not forget to drink plenty of water and limit you intake of alcohol to keep your body healthy and in good shape.

Smile

This will be the most noticeable feature in all the photos so make sure your smile is up to scratch. Go for regular check ups and get your teeth cleaned and polished coming up to the big day. Brush your teeth twice daily using gentle whitening toothpaste and don’t forget to floss. If you need extra help than why not purchase a whitening kit you’re your local pharmacy and see the difference after a few weeks. If you really want to splash out you can opt for a procedure called “britesmile” which uses a laser treatment to whiten teeth 5 to 6 shades brighter. This procedure will cost between $600 to $700 and is available from some dentists.

The Tactics of Survival Backed by a Sound Personality Development Plan

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

A proper personality development plan backed with a sizeable amount of experience a lot can be achieved. Most often there is a tendency to take the easy way out as it justifies any self-serving agenda. To gain that extra edge, as part of a personality development plan there has to be an uninhibited nature to be mentored by experienced personnel. Mentoring offers advice continuously as high performance people understand the tactics of survival. But sometimes being prepared for the unexpected makes perfect sense as things can get unpredictable in business.

Despite having a personality development plan a lot depends on the significance of the problem. Realizing what is right and wrong and going beyond the actual dispute makes the big difference. This is recognized by people with high performance careers irrespective of economic circumstances.

Today litigation has been accepted as a business tool and with exorbitant court costs most opt out of this approach not because of financial weakness but because the emotional bank account runs out way before the financial one. Acceptance is difficult on this issue and can be outside the comfort zone.

Everyday worldwide many deals are struck. Most of them are cleared for various reasons but they are no longer expeditious or convenient. Further, accomplishments are always perceived differently and life is fairly simple. Overall, it reflects on the personality development plan where honoring the promised word makes a difference though it can be difficult.

Nurturing Your Vision

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

There is a new television show, called Blind Justice that will be replacing NYPD Blue. The show follows a Detective who, at the prime of his life and career, loses his vision in a heroic attempt to thwart a bank robbery and save other police lives. The shooting of this Detective results in his losing his eyesight/vision. He refuses the “disabled” label and sues to get his job back. The show doesn’t premier until a week or two from now, so I know no more about it. What immediately struck me as I watched the promo for this new TV show was the idea of losing one’s vision. Not physically becoming blind, but losing the vision we once had for our lives.

In our childhood we all had visions of being “something”, a fireman, policeman, astronaut, president, etc. As we grew older those visions might have been replaced with others, but there was always a vision of who and what we would be. Do you remember yours? Do you remember graduating and starting your first job?

Didn’t you have a vision of where your life would go? Do you still have it? Has it changed? Do you even look at it?

Often as we grow into adulthood and the day-to-day responsibilities take over our lives, we lose our vision. We get caught up in surviving, taking care of business, as it were. But, without a vision we will remain stuck in the daily grind, only to one day look back and think, “Why didn’t I…I wish I had…”

Creating a vision for our lives entails looking into the future and imagining a perfect life. If nothing stood in your way, what would you like your life to look like in 5 years, 10 years, etc? Would you live on an island in the Pacific, would you be president of your company, would you be home-schooling your three children? Would you be living in a big house, small house or log cabin? What is most appealing in the vision of your future? Money? Fame? Stability? Family? Locale? Why is that the most appealing?

Having a vision is different than daydreaming. We can all daydream about winning the lottery, marrying a prince/princess, etc. Having a vision is more reality based. It often requires a lot of work, hard work, to attain the vision of our perfect life. Often it means foregoing immediate gratification for long-term happiness. To reach our vision we need to make plans, set goals and enlist support. We need to fully occupy our vision. Can you feel yourself living that vision?

Don’t let go of the vision you once had. Pull it out, look at it, tweak it where it need tweaking, or start anew, but embrace a vision and start planning how to make it happen. It sure can’t hurt! If you don’t you just may be looking back one day saying, “Why didn’t I…I wish I had…”

Learn How To Overcome Your Out Of Control Anxieties

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

Learn how to manage your out of control anxieties. It may be tough but you can do it. Here are some ways to cope with your fears and anxieties.

The first step is to take a deep breathe and try to find something to do to get your mind off of the problem. A person could take a walk, listen to some music, read the newspaper, watch TV, play on the computer or do an activity that will give them a fresh perspective on things. This will distract you from your current problem. Most importantly, doing something will give you the self confidence that you can still function and that you can get through the rest of the day.

Another thing to remind yourself is that things change and events do not stay the same. For instance, you may feel overwhelmed in the mornings with your anxiety and feel that this is how you will feel the rest of the day. This isn’t correct. No one can predict the future with 100 Percent accuracy. Even if the thing that you feared does happen there are circumstances and factors that you can’t predict which can be used to your advantage. You never know when the help and answers you are looking for will come to you.

I was told by a counselor that your anxiety and worry decrease over time. Your anxieties may seem intense at the moment, but that won’t be like that forever. Your worry will eventually decrease. I asked a professional why does the worry and anxiety decrease over time and she told me, “Because it just does”.

In every anxiety related situation you experience, begin to learn what works, what doesn’t work, and what you need to improve on in managing your fears and anxieties. For instance, you have a lot of anxiety and you decide to play on the computer to help you feel better. The next time you feel anxious you can remind yourself that you got through it the last time by playing on the computer. This will give you the confidence to manage your anxiety at the present time.

Don’t forget to Pray and ask God for help. A person can only do so much. Asking God for help can give us additional resources to help manage our fears and anxieties. It is not always easy, however God is in control and he will help you if you ask him.

As a Layman, I realize it is not easy to deal with all of our fears. When your fears and anxieties have the best of you, seek help from a professional. The key is to be patient, take it slow, and not to give up. In time, you will be able to find those resources that will help you with your problems.

How Well are You Maintaining Your “Creative Home”?

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

Taking care of ourselves, doing all we can to maintain our creative environments and abilities, is often the key to greater creativity. This means enabling you to increase creativity in terms of quality as well quantity.

Much like an old run-down house with poor central heating, rattling windows and a leaky roof, if you don’t take care of yourself creatively – and look after your Creative Home – then slowly and steadily your creative energy will be wasted and you’ll be frustrated and struggling to produce the kind of work you want to.

So here are five of the potential danger areas where your creative energy may be trickling, or gushing, away from your Creative Home, and how to combat them:

1. Too many windows open!

Problem- Having too many windows open – literally if you’re working on a computer – can mean a dilution of your creative energy and focus. By spreading yourself out too much and not concentrating on one or two projects, you run the risk of being overwhelmed by how much there seems to be for you to get on with. Essentially, you’ll experience the paralysis of the “blank canvas effect” multiplied many times over.

Solution- Narrow your focus. Pick a maximum of three projects to work on at any time, put any others you have away somewhere in a file or a different room, somewhere not visible to you where you normally work. Then pick the ONE creative project that means most to you right now, and set yourself some goals in what you wish to achieve and a set time period. Start small and build as you gain momentum.

For example if you’re writing a novel, you might set yourself the goal of writing the opening two chapters within the next month. Or you may wish to break it down further and set the goal of writing a page a day for the next 5 days. You know yourself how you work best so tailor your goals to suit you.

2. Not enough radiators!

Problem- People we mix with can be radiators – they radiate positive energy and support you – or they can be drains – they literally drain your positive energy with their negativity and criticism. Think about the five people you spend most time with. How many of them are radiators, who give out support and nurture your creativity, and how many are drains, who relentlessly draw your creative energy from you?

Solution- Eliminate the drains, invest in more radiators. Once you’ve identified how supportive or otherwise the people around you are, you can take action. If you found that you even have one or two who are draining your energy, replace them with radiators. Sometimes simply explaining calmly and confidently to someone that you appreciate their (negative) comments but are quite happy with the direction your heading in, can stop their negativity.

If it doesn’t, cut out, or at least reduce, the time you spend with them. Also, seek out additional people who will be supportive and positive and who you can support too. Join or start a group in your area or on the internet for people who are similarly want to increase creativity and share your aspirations and ideas.

3. Depressing or uninspiring décor!

Problem- The area you do most of your creative work in is uninspiring or worse is just plain depressing. The room is cold or draughty, your chair’s uncomfortable, and the wallpaper you’ve had for the last 12 years is peeling away at the edges…

Solution- Have an interior makeover. Surround yourself and your creative work area with décor that will energise and inspire. For you this may mean calm neutral colours with a few well placed pictures or quotes around you, or it might mean a glorious riot of colours, images and textures.

Again, you know what works best for you, try different things and notice how you respond in terms of how you increase creativity. Taking a few hours to make your creative study or workspace more inspiring and motivating will repay you many times over in greater creativity.

4. Poor security!

Problem- You have a poor “defence system” in place so when someone does make a disparaging or negative comment about your work, you take it badly and instantly doubt yourself and your creativity. You begin to wonder why you’re bothering with this creative project at all and whether you’ve got what it takes to be creative and produce significant and interesting work.

Solution- Toughen up your defence system. This begins with developing an awareness of when negativity creeps in, from others around you, as well as from yourself. In addition to becoming more aware and stopping negative thought cycles before they escalate, it makes sense to built in some preventative measures to strengthen yourself too.

One of the most effect and widely used ways of building confidence and self-belief is to use affirmations. These are simple statements that you repeat to yourself many times over until they becoming imprinted in your thoughts and replace and repel negative beliefs.

For example – “I am a highly creative.”, “My creative projects are stimulating and worthwhile.”, “I am developing each day as a creative artist.”. Use these and add more of your own. Remember though with affirmations the key is to use them as often as possible, many times a day at least.

5. Weak foundations or subsidence!

Problem- The very foundations of your Creative Home are in need of some serious attention. Anything you attempt to build (create) is undermined by a poor underlying structure. You stop and start creative projects erratically and never really get going with anything.

Solution- Put solid foundations into place. There is still amongst many creative people a belief that creativity comes in short hot bursts and then disappears again, that they’re at the beck and call of some mysterious and elusive muse.

In reality, the only way to produce consistently satisfying work is to develop regular creative routines and habits. By doing a little each day, over time we can all achieve amazing works creatively, rather than spending days or even months on end simply waiting for the inspiration to strike us again.

As well as setting aside time to create a little each day, even if only for 15 minutes each morning, go out and actively seek new ideas and inspiration from the world around you. And this inspiration can of course take many forms. If you’re a painter it doesn’t mean you can only be motivated to create by seeing other paintings. Seek out all kinds of art and creative endeavours and build the strongest foundations possible for your Creative Home.

Demand More From Your Lead Tracking Software

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

An integral part of any quality CRM system is lead tracking software. This is the part of the system that helps you gather customer data from your sales force. The ideal lead tracking software package, however, won’t just tell you where the sales are coming from, but will help generate revenue by pointing sales representative to higher conversion segments of your customer base.

Lead tracking software varies in features and capabilities, but most companies require a software package versatile enough to track both in-bound and out-bound sales information while taking into account numerous lead sources. If your current lead tracking software is unable to track lead information from a majority of the following sources, chances are you’re going to be left behind by your competition:

Word of mouth leads
Search engine/website leads
Email leads
Pay-per-click leads
Phone leads
Direct mail leads
Trade show leads
Advertising leads
Face-to-face sales leads

Today’s companies need to be prepared to excel on multiple sales fronts by knowing their customers. Your lead tracking software should not only be able to collect important demographic data from the customer “touch points” listed above, but it should also be able to make sense of the data. Simply compiling terabytes of customer data is not going to necessarily boost revenue. The ability to separate and utilize useful customer info is what separates the key players from the guys that’ll shortly be looking for new work.

While the responsibility to give meaning to customer information lies primarily with management, quality lead tracking software can assist any businessman in slicing and dicing what could otherwise be incomprehensible mounds of data. The problem with most software packages however, is that they either only do one thing well, i.e. track website clicks/traffic, or they do many things with mediocrity. You can spend a bunch of money on half a dozen specialized programs, or settle for an all-in-one program that doesn’t do any one thing really well.

While most companies are willing to invest quite a bit of money into lead tracking software, the problem with the first option is that while each program is great at what its supposed to do, none of the separate programs mesh together well, if at all. That creates a communication problem for large, complex companies with separate sales, marketing, and customer care departments.

The good news is that lead tracking software that combines the quality of focused applications with the versatility of the all-in-one packages are becoming available at prices that even the budgets of smaller companies can handle.

Motivating Students To Learn

Posted by admin in Uncategorized

As children get beyond the preschool/ kindergarten stage, many of them lose the joy in learning that is the characteristic of those early years. They may have had challenges in the classroom, or have been exposed to older children and heard some of their “school is boring” comments. The savvy parent can help to counteract this behavior by encouraging children to develop their interests and hobbies and by finding out more about the things in which they ARE interested. One method of motivating students to learn is by using articles in magazines or newspapers.

If you get a daily newspaper, teach your child to use it. There is no doubt that they will be motivated to learn to decipher the television and movie listings, but what else do you take for granted? All local newspapers have “Around Town” sections – draw your child’s attention to articles of importance to him. If he is a railroad buff, let him read about the model train show coming up next week. If he’s interested in space, read to him about the latest from the Hubble telescope.

Magazine articles are another good motivation tool. You can find whole magazines dedicated to your child’s hobby, whether it’s rock collecting or dance. If your child loves dinosaurs, reading about a little boy just like him who grew up to be a paleontologist can be very rewarding. Someone who loves animals will be motivated to learn all they can after reading about veterinarians.

One thing that motivates almost everyone is money. If your child is fascinated by reading about the lives of people whose salaries make them able to travel, drive expensive cars and live in luxury, perhaps he will be motivated to get a great education and get rich himself. Even People Magazine can be useful in motivating students to learn!

Motivating students to learn is a difficult skill, but a rewarding one. Find some useful tips to getting your students motivated.
