I used to freak out whenever I got suited hole poker cards. A flush is a huge hand, and the suggestion that I’ve got a chance to make one is pretty exciting. The problem with excitement is that it usually leads you down some roads that you don’t want to go. Seeing two spades sitting in front of you can have you thinking that you’ve won the pot already and can entice you into betting much more than your poker online hand is worth, even if it does make your flush. The sad truth is, suited hole cards rarely seem to turn into flushes, and even if they do, there can be a chance that someone’s got a higher one. If you’re going to play with suited online poker cards, make sure that you have some outs if the flop comes out as a rainbow. High suited cards like King-Jack or suited connectors like A-2 can give you a few outs if your suit doesn’t show up on the flop. With high cards, you at least have a chance of coming out with high pair or better, and of you’ve got connectors you’ll have a chance of making a straight if the flush doesn’t hit.
