Tips to Prevent Puffy Eyes
Get adequate sleep at night. If you have chronic puffy eyes, it could be that you’re just not getting enough sleep, or the quality of the sleep you’re getting is mediocre. Puffiness under the eyes is a very common symptom of sleep deprivation.
Hydrate! Many people who are inclined to puffy eyes are ordinarily dehydrated. If you have puffy eyes, drink more water. Set your goal for one gallon a day or at least 3 quarts. Drink water or herbal tea. Sweet, flavored or fizzy drinks don’t count. If you’re a coffee drinker or drink alcohol on a regular basis, you will need an extra glass of water for every glass of wine or cup of coffee.
Look at how you sleep. It’s not unique to have puffy eyes in the morning. One reason for this might be that when you are lying down in a flat position and then stand up, the fluid that is lying under your eyes is abruptly being drawn down by gravity. This puffiness should subside before long. One way you can prevent waking up with morning puffy eyes, is to raise your head while you sleep so that the fluid is not as rapidly drawn down as you get up.
Lessen your salt consumption. A high consumption of salt can cause you to retain fluid. Try using less salt and see if that shrinks your puffy eyes.
Drink cabbage or cranberry juice. Both are natural diuretics, which will help your body some surplus fluid in your body. Other natural diuretics include the herbs uva ursi and golden rod.
Be sure to get extra exercise. Exercise ameliorates circulation, which will assist your body to move fluid through your body, instead of letting it accumulate.
